The apparel you wear while running and walking makes a major impact on just how comfortable your workout will be.  Unlike cotton fabrics, which hold on to moisture, and are prone to “pooling” excess moisture, new technical fabrics are up to 4 times more efficient at moving moisture off your skin and into the outer layers of the garment where it can evaporate much more quickly. 

This moisture “wicking” effect not only keeps you drier, but can help you avoid getting chilled when it’s cool or windy. Another downside to cotton is how it gets sticky when wet, increasing the likelihood of chafing.  With newer technical fabrics, the sticky factor is all but eliminated, greatly reducing chafing issues.
