FOOTWEAR IS THE FOUNDATION

Footwear is arguably the most important factor when when considering a running or walking training program and a healthy concern to avoid injury and perform at your best. This is because of the fundamental role footwear plays in helping your body to align itself so that joints move smoothly, and ligaments and tendons are not over-stretched or overused.  The shoes we carry are specifically designed to compliment your biomechanics so that stress to the body is reduced and efficiency is increased.  You can learn more about how we fit you at the link below.

In order to work most effectively, specialty running and walking footwear must do 3 things well:

  1. Fit the contours, length and width of your foot properly.
  2. Support your foot appropriately in relation to your specifics needs; your individual stride, strike and gait biomechanics.
  3. Give you an appropriate amount of cushioning

HOW WE SELECT THE SHOES WE CARRY

We are constantly wear-testing and evaluating running shoes to determine the best selection for our customers.  Only the best models find a home on our shoe wall.  We stock shoes from companies that have the highest reputations for quality and performance. We are constantly on the lookout for new brands and models that deserve the honor of a spot in our store.

WHAT'S THE BEST SHOE FOR RUNNING OR WALKING?

There really isn't a “Best Shoe” or “Best Brand”.  Everyone has unique needs and what is best for someone else, may not be best for you.  The path to a "best" solution starts with getting fit to determine which shoes deliver what you need based on the 3 criteria stated above.

TIPS FOR A GREAT FIT!

1.       Bring your old shoes with you so we can examine them for wear patterns and indications of special needs.

2.       Tell our FIT Specialist what you liked and disliked about your shoes and any issues you’re having with aches and pains, or running injuries.

3.       Let us do a full FIT analysis with you if you have any doubts about the perfect shoe for you.  This is especially recommended if you are  dealing with any aches or pains.

One final tip: Don't buy your shoes based on how they look! Focus on how they fit and work for your biomechanics.  You will be happiest if they work they way they should, keeping you injury free and comfortable for miles and miles!
